The life of Twenty-20 cricket is all set to kick-off its 10th season in less than a week’s time. It all began back in 2008 with eight franchisees laying the foundation for a league to let the youngest format of cricket take the centre stage. Now, after 9 glorious years of entertaining cricket, IPL has become a landmark event in the Cricketing calendar.
What makes IPL the way it is? Undoubtedly the players from all over the world who come together and entertain the world with a bat and a ball. Every season, a few players surprise everyone and rise above all to become an overnight superstar. Here is a list of 10 players that have a great chance of hogging the limelight this season.
10. Ben Stokes (Rising Pune Supergiants)
The most expensive players in the IPL auctions have mostly disappointed every year but this time the English all-rounder Ben Stokes is expected to turn it around. Ben Stokes has developed in recent times to become one of world’s finest all-rounders at the moment. His performance will prove to be crucial for Rising Pune Supergiants as they hope to end their term in IPL on a high.
9. Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians)
Mumbai’s captain, Rohit Sharma, will have a lot to play for when he makes a comeback to cricket after suffering an injury that caused his ouster from the national side. A lot has changed since the Hitman was side-lined from the national side and a comeback for him is not going to be easy by any means. All eyes will surely be on him as he’ll be willing to give his best in a bid to revive his place in the Indian team.
8. Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders)
The spin wizard from West Indies will have all eyes set on him when he dons the Kolkata jersey this year. The Indian season, that has just concluded, has seen some dominant performances from the spinners and thus Sunil Narine will be the key to KKR’s hopes of a triumph.
7. Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Daredevils)
Growing under the ever so dependable Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada will be leading Delhi’s bowling attack this season. Delhi already boast of Zaheer Khan and Mohammad Shami in their bowling lineup and Kagiso Rabada will undoubtedly prove to be a precious asset. Delhi’s hopes of a triumph will have a lot to do with how this young man from South Africa bowls.

If he gets going then surely Mumbai won’t be easy to beat for any opponent.

A whopping 12 crores for a bowler who has almost zero international experience surprised almost everyone wHo witnessed the auctions. In a star-studded RCB line-up, Tymal Mills will have to do a lot to justify his price tag and his performance will be crucial in Bangalore’s path to the playoffs. Pacy yorkers will be the main weapon Tymal Mills will have in his arsenal and yorkers are always a treat to watch in the IPL.
4. Aniket Choudhary (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
In an auction where the likes of even Irfan Pathan went unnoticed, Aniket Choudhary managed to pull a bid of Rs. 2 crore.
